Resort Overview

Please click here to view the brand new Casa de Campo virtual tour of Teeth of the Dog.

The most exclusive golfers address in the Caribbean, Casa de Campo is sensational. It has everything you could possibly want on a vacation, it is more than a resort it is an exclusive community, where many rich and famous film stars have their second homes (from the USA). Over the years it has also hosted many big celebrity weddings from Hollywood!

The Casa de Campo is the only golf course in the Caribbean with 7 stunning ocean front holes where a hook or a slice loses your ball into the Ocean!

The resort offers an all inclusive food and beverage programme at the top end of the scale of their packages, which gives you a fine choice of dining options not just down by the hotel but also at the beach club, the marina and up in the medieval village called Altos de Chavon. The resort is not a mandatory all inclusive, one can stay on a room only or a bed and breakfast basis.

Casa de Campo has a 7,000 acre estate and a stunning piece of real estate with private beaches, cliff top golf and links style golf courses, there are in fact 63 holes on site, including the amazing Teeth of the Dog which is ranked 1 in the Caribbean, the Dye Fore Course is also equally impressive and the Links which has had a big refurbishment re-design. The marina at Casa de Campo is another highlight for a chill out evening or two, looking out over the luxury yachts moored, whilst the village of Altos de Chavon sits high up on the mountainside above Casa de Campo with a unique atmosphere –cobbled streets and a few excellent bars, restaurants including one on the all inclusive package. Altos de Chavon is an art and cultural centre and it is a fascinating place to hang out, it even has a 500 seater amphitheatre and a cathedral to visit plus a fascinating museum.

The rooms at Casa de Campo were renovated in 2012 and the hotel is now back to its best again, on the all inclusive package you are allocated a buggy per room, which allows you to whizz around this big resort and save time on your vacation.

The resort is in the exclusive La Romana district, in the most desirable region of the Dominican Republic, which is now accessible thanks to a new motorway extension from Punta Cana in circa 45 minutes compared to a previous transfer time from the airport of 2 hours or more.

Teeth of the Dog

Teeth of the Dog opened in 1971, the par 72, Teeth of the Dog is a golfing masterpiece and is ranked as the number one course in the Caribbean and 43rd in the top 100 courses, worldwide, by Golf Magazine.  With five sets of tees to choose from, the course can be as difficult as you want it to be.  From the tee, fairways are fairly generous and the real challenge we feel is the approach shots to sloping greens either protected by strategically placed bunkering or the Caribbean Sea!  Highlights of Teeth of the Dog are the 7 holes where the Caribbean Sea comes into play!  Signature holes include the par 3 5th hole that includes a tricky tee shot over the ocean to a sloping green! Simply outstanding all round.

The Links originally opened in 1973, it has just recently just re-opened after major renovation and refurbishment.  The beautiful inland Links course at Casa de Campo may not seem as exciting or challenging as its sea-side and cliff-hugging siblings, but don't be deceived. The Links is interior on the Resort property, with spectacular views of the Caribbean and the Resort. Its moderately hilly track, with tall bahia and guinea grass roughs, plus multiple sand traps that keep you on your toes. Thought by some to be reminiscent of traditional British and Scottish courses, there are several lagoons and even lakes with wading birds. There are five holes where water comes into play on this course making it a challenge unto itself.

Dye Fore

Dye Fore is the newest of the courses at Casa de Campo and in our view one of the most exciting layouts with 27 holes of spectacular golf!  Perched high above the resort the course offers stunning views of the Caribbean Sea, the Dominican mountains - the highest mountains in all the Caribbean, the Chavón River below, the Casa de Campo Marina and the Altos de Chavón artists village.  The course is extremely undulating, with wide sloping fairways that require the ability to play shots from different lies.  Finding the green is a must with tricky downhill and uphill approach shots to well protected greens!
