The resort offers all its clients complimentary green fees on the islands two finest golf courses, namely Ile aux Cerfs and The Els course at Anahita. The clubhouse is just 2 minute's walk from the reception of the resort, perfect set up and you can take advantage of the best practice found on the island of Mauritius. Anahita Golf & Spa Resort is actually closer to Ile Aux Cerfs than Shangri La and you have boat which leaves from the jetty here to take you to the Island in less than 10 minutes.
Ile aux Cerfs formerly known as Le Touessrok Golf Club sits on an uninhabited island 15-20 minutes transfer by boat from the jetty at Shangri-La. Designed by Bernhard Langer, the course is one of the most beautiful not just in Mauritius, but in the entire Indian Ocean and Africa. Following considerable changes in early 2015, the course has been remodelled following criticism over the previous year's on its difficulty levels. The owners have modified the course to make it much more enjoyable, some fairways have been widened, some greens have been enlarged, some tees have been raised and some greens have been lowered like the 9th. Furthermore the rough around and close to the greens has been eradicated, making chipping and putting from close to the putting services much easier than before. It is noteworthy that the 18th green has been moved to make it a dog leg left now, sitting high up, with special views of the ocean, thereby making the second shot considerably easier. However, the old green is still there over the mangroves if you prefer to take on the harder second shot, nestled below the Clubhouse. The course is unique, it is a great design, with loads of character. The back nine are simply spell binding, hole 11 a long par dog leg with a raised green overlooking the sea has to be the best hole. Whilst 12 to 18 are relentless in their exhilaration levels as you play your tee shots. The par 3 13th is a cute short hole and the short par 14th requires a brave carry over mangroves, similar to the excellent 4th. The par 5 sixth is about 630 yards and is a dog leg also. whilst the hardest hole on the course has to be the par 5 ninth which is all carry for the second shot and very hard to avoid the lake in front of the green. Ile aux Cerfs is included in the prices of the Long Beach and the Shangri La's Le Touessrok Resort & Spa, as well as the Anahita Golf & Spa Resort. A great and rewarding experience.
Situated adjacent to the Anahita Golf & Spa Resort property, this superb golf course is in many people's view the best on the island. It is definitely in everyone's top 2 or 3. The design is a masterpiece by Ernie Els, a long and testing challenge where you need to choose which tee to play off with careful thought. The blue tees make it 7,000 yards and the white tees about 6,600 which is still a long challenge.
The course takes in the ocean on several holes, notably the wonderful 4th hole, a long par 5 called Ocean Drive, with the green high up offering a stunning vista of the sea and the Ile aux Cerfs. The marvellous par 8th hole, which has the ocean backdrop behind the green and requires a tee shot up hill, in excess of 200 yards with the red blooming flamboyant trees around the green. The risk and reward short par 4 ninth which is a tribute to quirky Scottish Links with a diagonal burn running right across the fairway and an old wall in front of the green reminds one of the West Links at North Berwick. The back nine are on higher land with more coconut palms and more raised greens and high tees, there also more dog legs. The stand out holes are the last 3 which are so strong, the par 3 17th is facing the ocean against the wind and the superb dog leg 18th tempts you to cut across the mangrove swamp and sea on the left for the best position. Two great shots and you may get close to the gorgeous green in front of the clubhouse and next to the beach of Anahita Golf & Spa Resort.
Golf is free on a daily basis for hotel guest of Four Seasons and Anahita Golf & Spa Resort and the range balls are included, there is a nominal small charge for buggy hire.
The course excites at every twist and turn and you need to get the driver out on every hole even the par 3 8th.
