Lanzarote is the latest addition to our programme in the Canary Islands. Situated just north of Fuerteventura, the island is fairly small, the most unspoiled and charming to discover. The planning permits have restricted the size and height of all buildings including hotels, so everything is low rise and understated, which adds to the visual and wild beauty of the destination. Lanzarote is exclusively a volcanic Island, which gives the landscape a fascinating perspective. The outlying land stretching from the volcanos to the coast is therefore dominated by fields and fields of old lava giving the landscape a black and unique look, one could say it actually resembles a lunar landscape. The soil of the Island is incredibly fertile and lends itself perfectly for growing Malvasia vines - the white wine from Lanzarote is superb and with extremely interesting flavours. Lanzarote is the ultimate spring like temperature year round, not really varying outside the 18 to 28 degree range, but crucially not dropping to single temperatures at night.
Lanzarote like all the Canary Islands is well served by many charter and no frills airlines, as demand for Turkey, Egypt and Tunisia have dropped over 50%, the airlines like Jet2.com, Thomson and Thomas Cook have switched many many more flights to airports like Arecife. The prices to Lanzarote are sensible and so do not reach the highs of Tenerife in the prime months. Scottish clients are well served with flights from Glasgow with Thomson and Jet2.com. Special mention of British Airways, who now offer a great selection of routes into the Canaries, they offer great flights to Arrecife, with great fares in Club Europe. As with Tenerife and Turkey, with Lanzarote, we would recommend a minimum stay of 7 nights.
They call Lanzarote the Island where there is an eternal spring, the temperatures stay between 18 to 28 degrees year round, not reaching the highs of Tenerife and Gran Canaria, so the summer months from May to September are also very appealing, where you can enjoy golf and sun bathing combined more than you can during the cooler winter months. The hotels and golf courses are also better priced during the hotter season. Lanzarote is quite windy, particularly on the north of the Island, where there are no resorts or golf courses, the super resorts of Playa Blanca to the Deep South and the lovely Puerto del Carmen, enjoy lovely climates and are more sheltered and are mostly South facing and our hotels can enjoy sun rise and sunset, such is the special topography of the Island! Lanzarote may not be the hottest of the Canary Islands, but it is together with Fuerteventura the driest. Talking to local people the best time of year for great weather and lack of wind is between September to December.
Food & beverages are included during your stay, the quality and variety of wine and liquor will vary from resort to resort, you can leave your wallet behind.
The very best of the best, our most exclusive resort properties, in our opinion.
Resorts which have their golf courses on site or within a free shuttle ride away.
Small hotels which have a unique style and ambience, accentuated by fine cuisine and service.
